3. At secondary school in 3rd year. I had a different growth spurt to the other kids and I was getting smashed at rugby, so I managed to plead out of being used as a tackling bag and get over to hockey. We had some members of the 1988 Olympic gold-medal winning GB hockey squad come to visit our school too and I was blown away by their abilities (Sean Kerly, Imran Sherwani). We had 3 or 4 GB age-group players at our school too, so we were lucky to have great facilities (I've only ever played on an astro) and good coaching.

4. Defender / umpire

5. My eldest son started playing as an U12, and I got fed up of watching cold on the sideline, so I took it up again.

6. Bouldering...no wait! I mean helping my wife at home.

7. Playing in the 1st team with our lad. That's not going to happen again :) 8. Jib. 2 ciders and Sassy Tom comes out to entertain.

8. Depends who's asking as to whether you consider them famous or not.

9. See the hockey bods above. I've had some lovely climbing sessions with Johnny Dawes. He's probably quite niche. I was very pleased to meet Tim Berners-Lee. Alex Danson too.

10. Famous people are just people. They have bad days and get grumpy like anyone else. Obviously both Johnny and TimBL were lovely and not grumpy; I can't remember a lot more about meeting GB hockey peeps!
